Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton previously made headlines amid claims that one of them made the other cry ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal wedding. Initial claims alleged that Markle made her sister-in-law cry during Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress fitting, but the Duchess of Sussex later explained that this wasn't the case.

Meghan Markle Debunked Claims That She Made Kate Middleton Cry

During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle revealed that the exact opposite of what was written in the papers happened. She revealed that Middleton was the one who made her cry, but the Princess of Wales later apologized, and she accepted it.

Markle didn't also want to get into detail regarding what really happened between her and Prince William's wife. But months after her interview aired, one royal author accused her of lying and insisted that Markle was the one who made Middleton cry.

Meghan Markle Became Obsessed With Wanting The Palace To Clear Her Name

In the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, author Valentine Low claimed that Markle became so obsessed with wanting the Palace to set the record straight regarding her feud with Middleton. After all, so many negative things were being said about her, and they weren't necessarily accurate.

"They (the Palace) were equally adamant it would be a serious mistake to start briefing about personal stories relating to differences between members of the Royal Family. Not only did they not want to brief against other royals, but they feared it would create a precedent, making it harder in the future for them to avoid commenting on personal tittle-tattle. This became a major point of contention between Meghan and her media advisers," Low said (via Mirror UK).

Meghan Markle Claimed She Was Blamed For Something She Didn't Do

While speaking with Winfrey, Markle said that the hardest part was having to deal with the blame even though she was aware that she didn't do anything wrong.

"The people who were part of our wedding going to our comms team and saying, 'I know this didn't happen.' I don't have to tell them what actually happened. But also I think a lot of it, that was fed into by the media, and look I would hope that she would have wanted that corrected and maybe in the same way that the Palace wouldn't let anybody else negate it, they wouldn't let her because she's a good person. I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity, where if you love me, you don't have to hate her. And if you love her. You don't need to hate me," she said.

But even though more than four years have already passed since the incident, Middleton has not given her side on the issue. And it seems she will never be able to explain what really happened because, as a senior working royal, she's not allowed to talk about her personal life during interviews.
