Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received an intense backlash following their Netflix documentary, with many accusing them of trying to ruin the institution. Several called out King Charles to strip them of their Sussex title, which they have continued to use in the United States. However, a royal expert said that Markle will still have a royal title even if the Sussex dukedom is removed from them.

Meghan Markle Will Still Have A Royal Title If She Loses Duchess Of Sussex?

Many are complaining about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's use of their royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. First, their title is not applicable in the United States. Second, many felt they didn't deserve it following their treatment toward the royal family and the institution.

However, while the royals could remove the Sussex dukedom from them, Markle will still have a hold on one title due to a royal loophole, according to one royal expert.

Ingrid Seward, Editor in Chief of Majesty Magazine, spoke to The Royal Beat, and she cast doubt on the claims about the couple losing royal titles. For her, there's always a way for Prince Harry and Markle to hold on to at least one royal title.

"I don’t think anything will happen to the titles because, if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince of the blood, and Meghan instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, [would] be Princess Henry," she said, Express reported.

"That really would [confuse the Americans]. I think [it’s] probably best just to leave it because it looks unkind, it looks unnecessary. The Queen gave them the titles, let them keep them - they’re going to be ‘H and M’ anyway."

She also offered solicited advice on how to deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

"I think the best thing is to leave them, ignore them, and let them get on with it - which is really what the Palace and the Royal Family are doing," she said.

King Charles Reportedly Has No Plans To Remove Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Royal Titles

While many wanted His Majesty to strip his son and daughter-in-law of their Sussex titles, he reportedly had no intention to heed the call because he didn't want to be petty.

"Stripping their title is not something the king would likely ever consider ... mostly because it would be too petty and punitive," an anonymous source told Page Six. "It would only lead to the Sussexes claiming it was a retaliatory action and proof they were never wanted in the royal family."

King Charles also made an unexpected reaction following Prince Harry and Markle's alleged attacks on the institution on their Netflix docuseries by still planning to invite them to his coronation. Many felt that his response outplayed the Sussexes.

The Sussexes didn't get the reaction they expected because the royal family didn't change their game plan — they stuck with their "never complain, never explain" mantra and continued to show that family is important to them by not firing back at Prince Harry and Markle for their allegations. They just kept quiet.

"The brilliance in the Palace's no response-response is that it directly counters the Sussexes' characterisation of the royal family as a ruthless bunch hellbent on the monarchy's survival, no matter the human cost," royal commentator Daniela Elser said of how the royals handled the drama brought by the Sussexes.

"Here Charles is, still wanting his younger son to be a part of his coronation, even though his boy now seems to attack the monarchy for a living."
