Meghan Markle has been getting criticism left and right because of the way that she treated former staff members. Last year, reports claiming that the Duchess of Sussex bullied some of her former employees into quitting their jobs made headlines.
Prince Harry Claims Meghan Markle Checked On Her Sick Staffers, Sent Them Snacks?
But in Meghan Markle’s husband’s book Spare, Prince Harry vehemently denied that his wife ever bullied anyone. In fact, the Duke of Sussex revealed that Markle was an exemplary boss.
“[She] checked on staff who was ill, sent baskets of food or flowers or goodies to anyone struggling, depressed, off sick. [She] bought pizza and biscuits, hosted tea parties and ice-cream socials” for staff members,” he wrote (via Page Six).
Royal Author Claims Former Staffers That Accused Meghan Markle Of Bullying Are Standing By Their Story
But royal author Valentine Low said that all those who accused Markle of bullying them are standing by their story.
“The people I spoke to are absolutely still sticking to their story, claiming that Meghan bullied them. I can’t speak to the truth of that, of course, because I wasn’t in the room and I haven’t heard Meghan’s side. But my sources still very much stick to their story,” he said.
Meghan Markle Accused Of Bullying
Last year, the royal family released a statement saying that they will be launching an investigation into the bullying allegations plaguing the Duchess of Sussex. However, The Firm also said that they will not be releasing their findings.
“We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The Royal Household ... does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace,” the palace said (via Yahoo! News).
A source told OK! Magazine at the time that this meant that Markle’s name hasn’t been completely cleared.
“Meghan will have you believe what Meghan will have you believe. She wasn’t cleared. This is just a classic spin. Buckingham Palace never said she was cleared. Buckingham Palace said they would not release the findings of the investigation. These are two very different things,” the source said (via Style Caster).
In 2018, Markle faced a bullying complaint made by one of her closest advisers while she was still working as a senior royal at Kensington Palace. According to The Times, the former employee reached out to the publication because they felt that only a partial version of Markle has emerged and they wanted to share their side of the story.
It was later revealed that the complaint came from Prince Harry and Markle’s former communication secretary Jason Knauf. The latter accused Markle of driving out two personal assistants until they resigned and undermining the confidence of a third staffer.
“The treatment of [redacted] was totally unacceptable. She is bullying [redacted] and seeking to undermine her confidence. We have had report after report from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards [redacted],” he said (via Yahoo! News).
But in a surprising twist, the authors of Finding Freedom revealed that some of the staffers that initially complained asked to retract their complaints after learning that Knauf made it public without their permission.
As of writing, no one has publicly come out and accused Markle of bullying them.
