Meghan Markle previously made headlines following her shock appearance on the Ellen Show. While there, Markle promoted her book, The Bench and gave host Ellen DeGeneres about her family’s Thanksgiving plans. However, this isn’t all that the Duchess of Sussex did.
Markle also played pranks on the vendors selling hot sauces, jewelry, and more outside the Ellen Show studio. And this is what the Duchess of Sussex’s critics disliked the most. After all, they felt that Markle caused more humiliation to the royal family because of the prank.
Meghan Markle Deserved The Backlash She Received Post-Ellen Show
Weeks later, royal expert Neil Sean weighed in on the backlash that Markle faced and suggested that the comments were valid.
“Meghan is apparently taken to indoors as we say over here in the UK because she's so upset about the backlash she received after appearing on the show. Even Prince Harry thought this was a good idea to show her fun side. Perhaps they should have gone on together, how fun that would have been. Sadly, for Meghan, it didn't come out that way,” he said.
Sean went on to say that Markle should’ve just promoted her book instead of playing pranks on vendors for the whole world to see.
“But fear not, Meghan will be back in 2022 looking for another option to rebrand and reconnect,” he added.
Meghan Markle To Headline Tea With Duchess Meghan?
Following the interview, multiple publications speculated on the possibility of Markle headlining her own talk show.
New Idea, in its Dec. 20 issue, claimed that Markle decided to appear on The Ellen Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show to get some ideas on how such a program works. After all, she will be headlining her own talk show called Tea With Duchess Meghan.
An unnamed source also told the tabloid that DeGeneres and Winfrey have different reactions after learning about Markle’s plans. The comedian couldn’t allegedly be more thrilled to know that Markle wants to follow in her footsteps. And as long as she would invite her to her talk show, DeGeneres is OK.
Winfrey, on the other hand, is not pleased. After all, she allegedly feels that Markle used her for her own benefit. The longtime host doesn’t also like the idea that she and Markle would be competing against each other.
However, all these claims about Markle headlining a talk show have not been proven and they also seem unlikely because Prince Harry and Markle have plenty of things in the works.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Multi-Year Deals
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multi-year deal with Netflix and Spotify months ago, and they have not released major projects since they signed their contracts.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry announced that he would be producing a docuseries about the Invictus Games. A few months later, Markle announced her partnership with Elton John’s husband, David Furnish to produce an animated series called Pearl.
Royal historian Carolyn Harris previously said that it’s not advisable for Prince Harry and Markle to produce shows for Netflix that are centered on the royal family.
“If Harry and Meghan were to produce content concerning the Royal Family, that might lead to conflict. But if they produce programs focused on their philanthropic interests, similar to the recent Disney Elephant documentary narrated by Meghan, there is unlikely to be a conflict with the Royal Family,” she said.
On top of the couple’s multi-year deals with Netflix and Spotify, they also partnered with Ethic, an investment company.
