Meghan Markle looked stunning in her red gown when she joined Prince Harry at the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala at the Intrepid Museum in New York City Wednesday night. However, not everyone approved of the Duchess of Sussex's outfit that night.

Meghan Markle Broke Royal Dress Code At Gala?

Meghan Markle was stunning in her red gown by Carolina Herrera. She paired her outfit with matching red Giuseppe Zanotti. Prince Harry opted for a classic black suit and bow tie pinned with four medals and the cross for Knight Commander of Royal Victorian Order around his neck.

Markle's sleeveless gown featured a plunging neckline, an open back, and a daring thigh-high slit. She accessorized with diamond drop earrings and a red poppy pin.

Markle styled her hair in a slicked-back bun. She balanced her classic hairstyle with an edgy black winged eyeliner.

However, the Duchess of Sussex allegedly broke the royal dress code with her choice of outfit that night. The monarchy has strict style restrictions and does not allow designs that expose one's cleavage, pantyhose or subtle makeup, InStyle reported.

Why Did Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Attend The Gala?

Prince Harry was invited to the event because it was for the veterans and Prince Harry served in the British army for 10 years. He also founded Invictus Games. So, he deserved to be at the event.

Sunrise royal commentator Angela Mollard weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attendance at the event. She believed that they deserved to attend there. His military connection should not be cut, or he would be left with nothing.

Royal expert Charlie Lankston said Prince Harry had a great love for the military and was devastated when the Queen ripped him off his honorary military titles. He noted that the Duke of Sussex worked so hard to get them.
