Meghan Markle Received Surprising Thank You From Piers Morgan
The Duchess of Sussex earned an open critic in Piers Morgan. The TV presenter has been attacking Meghan Markle after she allegedly ignored him when she started dating the Duke of Sussex.
Morgan made headlines and even quit his job at Good Morning Britain after his rant concerning Prince Harry and Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey in CBS in March. The TV host said he didn't believe Markle was suicidal when she was with the royal family.
In the interview, the duchess said she "didn't want to be alive anymore." Morgan reacted by saying, "I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report."
He also said the interview was "contemptible" and a betrayal of the royal family. He received an intense backlash for his remarks as many believed people struggling with their mental health should receive empathy and not judgment.
Ofcom received thousands of complaints against Morgan, including one from Markle. However, the organization sided with Morgan.
"Delighted to have perpetrated the most complained about moment on UK TV for 2021…. especially because every single one of the absurd complaints was rejected. Thanks Princess Pinocchio," he tweeted.

Piers Morgan Wins Over Meghan Markle After Being Cleared By Ofcom
Ofcom, the British media regulator, released a statement in September, clearing Piers Morgan from complaints that he breached broadcasting code when he criticized Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The organization said Morgan's statements were "potentially harmful and offensive," but it "took full account of freedom of expression."

"Consistent with freedom of expression, Mr. Morgan was entitled to say he disbelieved the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's allegations and to hold and express strong views that rigorously challenged their account. The [Ofcom broadcasting] code allows for individuals to express strongly held and robustly argued views, including those that are potentially harmful or highly offensive, and for broadcasters to include these in their programming," the report stated, adding, "The restriction of such views would, in our view, be an unwarranted and chilling restriction on freedom of expression both of the broadcaster and the audience."
