Meghan Markle surprised many when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Many were surprised to see her back in her old self, especially when she joined the prank segment where she acted and followed what Ellen DeGeneres told her. A royal commentator said the Duchess of Sussex is rebranding herself.
Meghan Markle Is Rebranding Herself
Royal commentators Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito weighed in on Meghan Markle's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on their podcast Royally Obsessed.
Fiorito said the 40-year-old royal was "rebranding" to be more about "the Meghan she was before Harry." It was apparent in how she interacted with the host and carried out the embarrassing tasks in front of the unsuspecting vendors when they did the prank.
"Meghan on Ellen, on the prank section, there wasn't really a royal reference made, besides her name," Fiorito explained per Express.

She added that Markle was clearly moving on from the stiff practice of the royals. She showed her fun side because she doesn't have to be serious all the time, which was interesting, according to Fiorito.
"For me, what was interesting was Meghan showing a different side," she added. "Her comedic side. Her acting side. She is really capable in that regard. It does demonstrate that."
Bowie agreed with Fiorito's observation. She noticed that much of the things Markle talked about during the interview was her "pre-royal life."
"That feels like a new chapter for her. It feels like she is rebranding herself to be more about Meghan, the person she was before Harry. It's definitely a choice she has made," she added. "She talked about things she wasn't able to talk about in her royal life. She is definitely going to show more of herself going forward."

What Did Meghan Markle Do In The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Meghan Markle showed off her comedic side by following DeGeneres' instruction during the prank segment. She did as DeGeneres told her to do — random squats in public, called herself "mommy," and drank in a feeding bottle, among other hilarious stunts.
She also talked about her life when she was still a struggling actress. Markle recalled driving her old car with faulty doors that she had to climb in and out via the trunk.

However, her father, Thomas Markle Sr., contradicted her statements. According to the Markle patriarch, in his best recollection, his daughter's car was working fine until she ditched it.
"The Ford Explorer she had in her early 20s that she mentioned was a good running vehicle. I don’t remember any time she had to crawl out of the back of it to get out, like she said," Thomas Sr. told Mirror. "The doors worked fine on that vehicle until the day she got rid of it."
