Meghan Markle is facing a lawsuit over the claims she made about her half-sister, Samantha Markle, and their dad, Thomas Markle Sr., during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Samantha Markle Files A Lawsuit Against Meghan Markle
According to Page Six, Samantha is accusing Meghan Markle of making false and malicious statements during her interview last year. The Duchess of Sussex claimed to be an only child, and she also said that she didn’t have a relationship with her half-siblings. However, Samantha claimed that this is far from the truth.
“The defamatory implication is that Plaintiff had no relationship whatsoever with her sister Meghan, they were virtual strangers and that Plaintiff has created a lucrative career selling false stories to tabloids and television programs when she knows nothing about Defendant’s childhood,” the filing reads.
According to Samantha’s lawsuit, it’s not also true that Markle was forced to work at a young age to help her family with their expenses.
“Meghan falsely claimed that: (a) she essentially raised herself from virtual poverty; (b) she was forced from the age of 13 to work in a series of low-paying jobs to ‘make ends meet,” the lawsuit reads.
Additionally, Samantha also claimed that Markle was lying when she said that their dad refused to attend her royal wedding to Prince Harry. According to Samantha, Thomas was unable to fly to the United Kingdom because he suffered two strokes as a result of too much stress.
“Mr. Markle suffered two heart attacks in the weeks before Defendant’s wedding in May 2018 due to stress associated with the Royal wedding, the constant hounding and harassment by paparazzi and other media, and upsetting text messages he received from Defendant and Prince Harry, and Mr. Markle’s cardiologist told him he was too
sick to travel to England for the wedding; Mr. Markle did not refuse to attend the wedding, but was instructed by his doctor not to attend the wedding,” the lawsuit reads.
Samantha is also attacking Markle over the statements that she made in the book, Finding Freedom and said that none of them were accurate.
Markle’s half-sister is asking for $75,000 in damages, and she also wants her half-sister to pay her lawyers’ fees and court fees.
Meghan Markle’s Attorney Responds To The Lawsuit
Shortly after Samantha’s filing, Markle’s attorney, Michael Kump, released a statement to TMZ saying that the allegations were baseless and absurd.
“This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves,” he said.
Meghan Markle, Samantha Markle’s Complicated Relationship Revisited
Samantha’s relationship with Markle has been strained for years. It all started in 2017 shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got engaged.
Initially, Samantha was on the couple’s side. She sat down for interviews detailing her fond memories with her half-sister while they were growing up. She also shared some photos of herself with Markle and the one that stuck with royal fans was their snap at the latter’s graduation.
But things suddenly took a turn for the worse after Markle refused to invite her half-siblings to her royal wedding. She only invited her dad, Thomas, and mom, Doria Ragland to her nuptials.
Since then, Samantha and Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., have been attacking her and Prince Harry. At one point, Samantha even wrote a book about her relationship with her half-sister called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. The book is still available online on Amazon.
As of press writing, it’s still unclear what will happen to Samantha’s lawsuit. But Markle would be forced to respond to it one way or another even if she is also busy with other things.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Lawsuit
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex just filed a lawsuit against the British government and the Home Office for removing his security detail when he is in the United Kingdom.
During a Feb. 25 hearing, Prince Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima QC, said that the dad of two wants to know more about the committee’s make-up.
“We've been asking about the membership. The relevance of the claimant's knowledge about who he was dealing with and in what capacity,” Fatima QC said.
However, some critics are slamming Prince Harry for being entitled. After all, not all members of the royal family have 24/7 security.
