Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to step back from their royal duties was dubbed "Megxit." However, royal biographer Tina Brown believes it was wrong because Megxit only referred to Meghan's exit and her husband played a role in it.

Meghan Markle Only Supports Prince Harry's Desire To Leave The Royal Family

Brown weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's departure from the U.K. after they announced that they were stepping back from their royal duties. Their exit, dubbed "Megxit," was not appropriate, according to Brown.

"I do think it’s wrongly called Megxit," Brown told Page Six while promoting her new book The Palace Papers. "He wanted out and she enabled him to do what he wanted. She was strong enough to say, ‘You know what? You want out. I can make it happen.'"

Brown noted that Prince William's brother has shown the world that he "absolutely hates that whole [royal] life." However, Prince Harry couldn't leave the royals until he met and married Markle.

"If not but for Meghan he wouldn’t have found a way out because he basically was a man who had everything done for him all of his life. He had never carved a life for himself," Brown explained. "Meghan was very much a self-starter, a self-made successful woman. She knew who to call at Netflix. He wasn’t worldly like Meghan was worldly."

In May 2021, Prince Harry sat for an interview with US podcaster Dax Shepard. During the chat, he compared a royal life to "a mixture between The Truman Show and being in a zoo," referring to Jim Carey's 1998 movie, who is oblivious that his life is filmed for a television show.

Shepard confirmed to Prince Harry if he wanted to leave because of the job and confirmed. He also said his mom, Princess Diana's death was among the reasons he wanted to leave the royal life. Apparently, he doesn't want his wife to suffer what his mother endured.
