Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a new Netflix project on the way after Harry & Meghan. However, one royal expert claimed that they were attempting to align themselves with individuals who made names for themselves with philanthropy.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Trying To Align Themselves With Philanthropists, Expert Claims
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield, host of To Di For Daily podcast, reacted after learning about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new project on the streaming giant. Netflix dropped the first trailer of Live to Lead Monday, which according to Prince Harry, was Nelson Mandela-inspired.
The new show features several high-profile activists and leaders worldwide, including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, climate activist Greta Thunberg, Gloria Steinem and lawyer Bryan Stevenson. However, it didn't include Prince Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
"Harry and Meghan teaching us about leadership is like Rachel Dolezal teaching us about honesty," Schofield told Fox News Digital. "I’m not surprised that they did not include the queen. Meghan purposely excluded the queen when she guest-edited Vogue's ‘Forces for Change’ issue. This entire special is just an attempt by Harry and Meghan to try to align or associate themselves with individuals that have successfully made names for themselves with their philanthropy."
The R is for Revenge Dress author also previously criticized Markle for not featuring the late monarch in her Archetypes podcast. Schofield questioned Markle's efforts to be a feminist for missing the opportunity to acknowledge her grandmother-in-law.
"All 'Archetypes' podcast episodes were recorded before the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Since Meghan's brand seems to highlight feminism and the podcast is about fighting misconceptions and labels on women that hold them back, it wouldn't have hurt to add a simple intro or goodbye thanking the Queen for her lifetime of service," Schofield previously told Fox News Digital in another interview.
She noted that the Queen didn't share professional responsibilities with her late husband, Prince Philip. She also worked until her last breath.
"You would think that Meghan would acknowledge her lifetime of service beyond 'putting a Variety magazine cover on hold' but who am I to judge?" she added.
"In general, it's hard for me to take Meghan seriously as a feminist when every opportunity that has been presented to her over the last five years is a direct result of the man that she married."
Prince Harry Only Given The Platform Due To His Royal Connections?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of cashing in on the royal family for doing a documentary on Netflix. Schofield seemingly echoed the same sentiment because she believed that Prince William's brother was only given the platform due to his association with the royal family.
"Reminder: Harry is only given a platform because of his DNA and Meghan only has these opportunities because of her husband's DNA. They are not in the same league as Greta Thunberg or Nelson Mandela," she continued.
"Harry and Meghan know that ‘You are who you associate with...’ – which is why they cling to their royal titles and create content like this so they can try to worm their way into these elite circles."
