Meghan Markle opened up about how she felt when she appeared on Deal or No Deal in the recent episode of her podcast Archetypes. However, Megyn Kelly slammed the Duchess of Sussex for the things she said in the said episode.
Megyn Kelly Accused Meghan Markle Of Lying In Her Podcast?
The American journalist and media personality is not having any of Markle's claims that she felt "objectified" and was "reduced in a bimbo" when she appeared on Deal or No Deal. She shared her thoughts about Markle's statements o her SiriusXM show, The Megyn Kelly Show, Wednesday.
"[Markle] knew exactly what she was getting herself into on that job and it was no surprise to her that they wanted her to look as good as possible while doing it," Kelly said about Markle, New York Post reported.
"What she's trying to con us on now is whether she enjoyed it. She loved every minute of it! She wanted to be objectified!"
To support her claim, Kelly mocked Markle, who said she left the show after a year. According to her, when Markle left the NBC game show, she started a website and posted "half-naked pictures of herself." She also slammed Markle for her hit TV show Suits, where she reportedly "regularly appeared in her underwear."
"Maybe it's only objectification, like if you are carrying a suitcase? Flight attendants in the world beware! Suitcase in hands and approving looks your way 'bimbo,' 'slut'" Kelly added.
"Why is she lying about this?" Kelly continued. "Why can't she just say I'm so grateful to those producers who helped me look amazing night after night and gave me my start in acting?"
Kelly answered her own question saying, "Because it's more important to her to be a victim. The same theme of every single one of her podcasts and of her life. Find successful and empowered women, reduce them to their lowest moments, and then claim to have listened to how terrible and sexist America is."
What Did Meghan Markle Say About Her Deal Or No Deal Stint On Archetypes?
Markle opened up about her experience in Deal or No Deal, where she appeared as one of the briefcase girls from 2006 to 2007, on the recent episode of her Archetypes podcast.
According to her, she was "objectified" and "reduced to a bimbo." She also claimed that the show was all about "looks."
She shared how the models would line up for different stations for lashes, extensions and bra padding. They were also given spray tan vouchers every week. While she had the job, she reflected on studying international relations in college and riding in a motorcade with a politician in Argentina. The duchess said that being a briefcase girl did not align with her values.
"I ended up quitting the show. I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage. I didn't like feeling forced to be all looks and little substance, and that's how it felt for me at the time being reduced to this specific archetype: the word 'bimbo,'" Markle said, Page Six reported.
"I was grateful for the job, but not about how it made me feel, which was not smart," she continued. "There was a very cookie-cutter idea of precisely what we should look like. It was solely about beauty — and not necessarily about brains."
