Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton never became best friends even though they were married to Prince Harry and Prince William, respectively. In fact, multiple sources claimed that the sisters-in-law never really got along because they are so different from one another.

Additionally, the duchesses were also involved in a major controversy that started even before Prince Harry and Markle tied the knot. Years ago, the Duchess of Sussex was accused of making Middleton cry during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.

Meghan Markle Clarifies What Really Happened Between Her, Kate Middleton

But when Markle spoke with Oprah Winfrey last year, she clarified that the opposite happened. And Middleton apologized to her because of it.

“The narrative with Kate, which didn’t happen, was really, really difficult and something that I think, that’s when everything changed, really. No. [I didn’t make Kate cry]. No, no, the reverse happened. And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing and she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone. To just take accountability for it,” Markle said.

Kate Middleton Didn’t Choose Meghan Markle’s Children’s Book?

According to Newsweek, Middleton missed an opportunity to extend an olive branch at Markle recently. After all, she shared her top five children’s books but didn’t mention Markle’s book, The Bench.

The publication pointed out that one of Middleton’s choices was Charlotte’s Web, which is about a young named Charlotte and her special friendship with a pig named Wilbur. So, it wasn’t surprising that this book made it to Middleton’s list.

However, Markle’s The Bench is about Prince Harry and Archie, which would’ve also been a wonderful choice.

According to the publication, the Duchess of Cambridge isn’t required to choose The Bench just because it was written by her sister-in-law. But if she did, this would’ve been her way of extending an olive branch at the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle Heartbroken Over False Reports About Her And Kate Middleton

During Markle’s interview with Winfrey, she revealed how heartbroken she was because the reports about her feud with Middleton were pinned on her.

“What was shocking was, what was that six, seven months after our wedding, the reverse of that would be out in the world [the story suggesting Meghan made Kate cry]. I would’ve never wanted that to come out about her ever even though it had happened. I protected that from ever being out in the world. A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining—yes, the issue was correct about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings, and I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing what everyone else was doing, which was trying to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot,” Markle said.

Following the interview, Markle never spoke about Middleton again. And Prince William’s wife has not said anything about the Duchess of Sussex either. So, it’s unclear where the sisters-in-law are in their relationship and whether they have already patched things up or not.
