Spider-Man left one of the most powerful and most used quote in history when it comes to responsibility and even royals are no strangers to that. Prince Harry gets applauded and earns praise from his own wife, Meghan Markle, as he used such lines to inspire her and motivate others as well.
Recently, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were in the center of the talks as after quitting the life of a royal. In her most recent appearance at the New York Times DealBook Conference, Meghan Markle, she was faced with the issue of privilege, in a surprising reply, she said, “You mentioned privilege — my husband always says, ‘With great privilege comes great responsibility.'”
She even added that the life she lived before is entirely different to the one she is living right now, “even before I had any privilege in my life — when my life and my lifestyle were very, very different — I always just stood up for what was right.”
The saying dates back since the French Revolution in the 1700s as “with great power comes with great responsibility,” and is has been used in various media such as in the movies and comics of Spider-Man in the 1960s. The famous quote later earned the moniker as “the Peter Parker principle.”
In Spider-Man, both in movies and in comics, the line is widely attributed to Uncle Ben, who gave the advice to Peter Parker and such is quote he lived by for many years. Uncle Ben is best known to be the anchor of the principles of Peter Parker is becoming the friendly neighbor to all, Spider-Man.
To date, such catchphrase is most widely used and associated with any kind of power, may it be political, or financial, or the likes, that politicians, royals, or maybe just common people use it as a guiding principle or as something that comes with such a privilege like how the words inspired Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Spider-Man’s next appearance would be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, in theaters December 17, 2021.
