Conor McGregor's new Netflix docuseries, McGregor Forever, finally drops today, May 17. As one of the most anticipated sports documentaries this year, here is what fans can expect.

McGregor is known for being one of the biggest superstars when it comes to combat sports. He has helped the UFC organization become the global leader for MMA events, and fans are about to see this and more in McGregor Forever.

McGregor Forever Plotline

The renowned mixed martial artist first announced the coming of his own docuseries in 2021.

"I'll be executive producer on the project. I'm contractually locked into 4, 1 hour episodes that I've to produce right now for Netflix," he tweeted.

So, what the new show will be about?

"In 2021, Conor McGregor faced one of the most demanding years of his career. Three fights in twelve months with the eyes of the world watching. Now, as the superstar prepares for his return to the octagon as he takes on the most important battle of his career, this all-access series will be a behind-the-scenes look at how Conor got here and why he's still the driving force in the UFC," its plotline reads.

Directed by Gotham Chopra, the documentarian told Irish Star that Connor is "unlike anyone" he has ever collaborated with.

"As one of his trainers described him, he's an entirely unreasonable man," he said. "And for that reason, he's impossible not to watch and be fascinated by. Don't look away because I guarantee you; you will definitely miss something inexplicably wild."

A Mad Scientist Conor McGregor

Speaking to BroBible, via SportsKeeda, Chopra revealed McGregor is like a "mad scientist," comparing him to the likes of Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, and Steph Curry.

"You know, he's obsessive. Personality-wise, he's quite similar to Kobe [Bryant], like there's a definance and a combativeness to him, of course," he stated. "But he couldn't be opposite of Tom Brady or Steph Curry I would say, as the most gentle guy."

He even complimented his work ethic, being a man who's "always looking to evolve."

Despite his popularity and not needing to fight anymore, he continuously improves as a fighter and in competing.

"Despite all of the fame and the fortune and all the people that are always around him... that's not what it's about," he added. "For him, it's about can I be better. And that is pretty similar...He always like looks back, 'I could've done this different and so, therefore, I'm going to try it again.'" [10:55 - 11:17]

Conor McGregor's Comeback Efforts

During a fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021, leaving him in a hospital bed and suffering from injuries like a broken leg, McGregor thought it was all over for him after his defeat.

"I know I would have calmed down, and part of me is thinking, 'Jesus, imagine it was just taken from me like that.' I would be a different person, and it was a bit scary, to be honest," he explained, per The Hollywood Reporter. "Like a stone, it's McGregor forever, and don't you forget it."

Aside from Poirier, he also lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov. But when he returned to his locker room, he immediately thought of a way to pick himself up quickly.

"He's a fighter, and he loves to fight. He's not practically bothered by losing. He says it all the time, you don't do this if you are not willing to lose," Chopra told BroBible. "Losing is a part of the game. I just thought that was interesting. He knew had to make sense of losing."
