A new trailer for Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, which premieres on AMC on Jan. 5 with a two-episode debut, has been released, showing more about the upcoming series than we've ever seen before.

What Mayfair Witches is All About

Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, according to the official synopsis, “follows a neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. She must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”

The drama is based on Rice's trilogy of novels: The Witching Hour, Lasher, and Taltos.

Mayfair Witches Trailer Reveals Rowan’s True Identity

The Mayfair Witches trailer makes it clear that Rowan Mayfair is stepping into some dark powers that are far beyond her comprehension and beyond her wildest dreams. As the story goes on, things start to get a little bizarre and more than a little bit confusing for our protagonist as she finds herself thrown into the deep end after learning that she is the latest in a long line of witches with multiple evil forces out to get her.

Along with Alexandra Daddario as Rowan, the series stars Harry Hamlin as Rowan's father and Mayfair patriarch, Cortland Mayfair, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Jack Huston as Lasher, a sinister entity who has plagued the Mayfair witches for generations before Rowan's narrative begins. Annabeth Gish, Beth Grant, Erica Gimpel, and Jen Richards are among the enthralling series' ensemble cast members.

The trailer for Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches promises to be the next great hit in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, with spectacular imagery, steamy encounters, and plenty of spells.

AMC Presents Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe

AMC has dubbed their adaptation of Anne Rice's several novels, particularly her witch-focused Lives of the Mayfair Witches series and the Vampire Chronicles series, as Anne Rice's Immortal Universe. Although they are essentially two independent works within Rice's canon, there is a lot of character overlap in the books.

AMC is integrating these two series and grouping them together under the Immortal Universe to simplify things.
