Marvel's reboot of Blade is starting to fill in their ranks as they found the perfect match as to who will pen the film which will star the Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali.

After the announcement of the Blade reboot from the Disney Investor Day, the film has been meticulously searching for a writer for almost half a year who will bring into life the character of Blade, the Daywalker who hunts vampires hunting the undead who have long preyed on humanity.

A half-human, half-vampire from his tragic birth, Eric Brooks, or more commonly known as Blade, has supernatural abilities of immunity to vampire bites and a longer lifespan due to his regenerative healing. Blade also developed super strength and agility from his vampiric origins.

Orphaned at a very young age, Blade spent his waking years in revenge for his mother, Tara Brooks, who has been killed by vampires which led him to master his own fighting style to combat monsters of every kind.

Blade graced the big screen with Wesley Snipes in the 1998 film of the same name by Stephen Norrington.

With Mahershala Ali taking on the character in the reboot slated by Disney and Marvel, a careful selection has been made as to who will pen his story and fit it in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Carrying the reflection of Marvel in diversity and representation, only Black writers were considered for the huge task ahead. Ali himself was directly involved in the process of choosing the writer.

Stacy Osei-Kuffour, the first Black female scribe to ever write for a Marvel film, has been selected to write the reboot of Blade. She is best known for being the story editor and writer for HBO's series Watchmen.

Stacy Osei-Kuffour received an Emmy-nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for the script she wrote for Hulu's series Pen15. She also wrote for Hunters of Al Pacino and Logan Lerman and Run of Domhnall Gleeson.

From a struggling writer to a story editor to becoming a writer for a Marvel film, Osei-Kuffor's ascent to the ranks is a story to be told along the years.

Marvel's Blade starring Mahershala Ali is slated for release on 2022.
