Adam Warlock is one of the strongest Marvel characters in the comics, and portraying him in live-action must require extreme training. Well, the MCU is no stranger to vigorous training regimens, as stars have become open about their preparations for superhero roles such as Captain Marvel's Brie Larson, and Shang-Chi's Simu Liu.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently in the middle of production, and in a new interview with MCU newcomer Will Poulter, he opens up on his preparations for the role.

In an interview with The Independent, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3's Will Poulter, who will play Adam Warlock in the upcoming threequel shed some light on his training progress for the role.

The actor admitted that he would not recommend to anyone the preparation he went through to play the role, “It’s difficult talking about it because with Marvel it’s all secret squirrel, but the most important thing is that your mental and physical health has to be number one, and the aesthetic goals have to be secondary, otherwise you end up promoting something that is unhealthy and unrealistic if you don’t have the financial backing of a studio paying for your meals and training. I’m in a very privileged position in that respect, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone do what I did to get ready for that job.”

"It’s been a lot of gym work and a very, very specific diet. It means not particularly civilized at times. Quantities of food you wouldn’t necessarily want to ingest. And other times, not enough food. I’ve gone through a series of different diets over the last few months." Poulter added.

Poulter went on to share that he is currently in a "maintenance phase," maintaining exactly how he weighs while the filming is ongoing. Poulter explained, "Now I’m in a maintenance phase, which is quite nice. I’m not eating copious amounts of food in bulk, and I’m not cutting. I’m just maintaining my weight. I’ve gone through periods of looking at food and feeling like I can’t face it, and then you blink and the next minute you’re ready to eat furniture because you’re so hungry.”

Given the rigid training and physical transformation Will Poulter is currently going through, it's promising to know that he is committed to portraying the well-known Marvel character. Poulter is also no stranger to action stunts, as evidenced in his previous projects in Leonardo DiCaprio's The Revenant and Dylan O'Brien's The Maze Runner.

In Marvel Comics, Adam Warlock is technically a God. Aside from possessing cosmic awareness, Warlock's abilities include superhuman strength, speed, stamina, flight, and cosmic energy manipulation. The character's godlike strength must require a lot of stunt work to successfully portray the character. With Poulter's recent comment about his dedication to the role, it looks like he is all in and will do whatever it takes to portray the live-action Adam Warlock.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3 will premiere in theaters on May 5, 2023.
