Mark Ruffalo: Thor Ragnarok Is A Beginning Of A 3-Movie-Arc For The Hulk

It's been well-documented that the reason we haven't had a standalone Hulk movie since 2008 is because the rights still partially belong to Paramount Pictures—that's why the character is merely sidelining in the upcoming Thor movie. As it turns out, Marvel is planning a 3-movie-arc for the Hulk, and it starts with Ragnarok.

Talking to CinemaBlend, Mark Ruffalo explained:

"Basically, Kevin [Feige] pulled me aside before [Thor: Ragnarok], and said, ‘If you were gonna do a… if we were going to do a standalone Hulk movie, what would it be?' And I said, ‘I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.' And he's like, ‘I love that. Why don't we do that in the next three movies, starting with Thor 3 and then we go into Avengers 3 and 4.' And I was like, ‘That sounds great!' And so we are at the beginning of this arc."

Though we don't have confirmation on any standalone Hulk films, at least we know that Marvel has the character's future planned out. It was said at one point that Grey Hulk was supposed to appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Hulk appearing more gruff and primitive in his transformation, but Marvel Studios was said to forgo the idea to save it for another film. Maybe Grey Hulk will come out in Infinity War?

As of now, we'll look forward to seeing Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, and for the most part, I think we'll be seeing him in his Hulk form instead of puny Bruce Banner. It's said that when we meet him in this film, he'd have been the Hulk for two years straight, and that's why he starts to learn how to talk in the trailers.

Thor: Ragnarok comes out Nov. 3.
