Mario Kart Tour is Coming to Mobile Devices Next Month

Few games are more fun to play with friends than Mario Kart so imagine the joy fans are going to feel when Mario Kart Tour finally comes to mobile devices next month, on September 25. Unlike Super Mario Run, which was a paid game with a free trial, this will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, like the recently-released Dr. Mario World.

It seems like Nintendo is ready to go all-in on this mobile game, opening its Twitter account and making the game available for pre-order on iTunes and Google Play. Right now, no bonuses are listed for those that pre-register for the free-to-play racer but there could be a neat bonus or two that we don't know about.

Considering how most of us have played Mario Kart on a console or handheld, it's going to be interesting playing this with touch controls. The visuals look similar to the 3DS game Mario Kart 7 but with a bit more polish, so that's good. Hopefully, the gameplay holds up as well and this becomes a hit among fans, which seems likely given the game involved.

Then again, those that have a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition might not even bother. Personally, I'll be giving this game a chance since it's free-to-play anyway, though Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled will probably remain my favorite kart racer.

Mario Kart Tour finally comes out on September 25 on iOS and Android.
