However, Marilyn Monroe died suddenly at the age of 36, while she was at the peak of her career, and everyone was left wondering what exactly had happened. There have been a lot of conspiracy theories and murky circumstances that plagued the pop icon’s death in 1962.
Recently, a mortician revealed details about the dead body of Marilyn Monroe, which allegedly was a "total wreck." Keep on reading to know more.
Marilyn Monroe’s Dead Body Had Become ‘Unrecognizable’?
Globe Magazine, in its upcoming May 23, 2022 issue, claimed Hollywood mortician Allan Abbot revealed that Marilyn Monroe suffered from saggy breasts and frizzy, badly dyed hair. He added that the siren looked more like a horror movie fright on her deathbed than a love goddess as her famous face was reportedly covered in ugly bruises.
In his tell-all book about his work as a celebrity undertaker, Allan Abbott revealed that the “gruesome corpse” laying cold on his embalming table looked “awful” and “unrecognizable.” Of Marilyn Monroe’s dead body, he divulged:
“When we removed the sheet covering her, it was almost impossible to believe this was the body of Marilyn Monroe. She looked like an average, aging woman who had not been taking very good care of herself.”

The co-founder of Abbott & Hast Morticians added that the gorgeous face of Marilyn Monroe was covered with purple blotches because of lividity, the settling, and the discoloration of blood. The actress’ neck was reported “immensely swollen” and had to be reduced by surgery for burial, adding that Marilyn’s famous platinum hair was brown at the roots.
Allan Abbot went on to say:
“You could tell she had not bleached it for some time, because the roots were darker and had grown out about half an inch. Her natural hair color was a light brown. Her legs hadn’t been shaved for at least a week, and her lips were badly chapped. She was also in need of a manicure and pedicure.”
Other sources claimed that Marilyn Monroe’s famed breasts turned saggy. Also, it was reportedly found out that she had been using fake b**BS that were found in the death house.
For her funeral, the wife of the cemetery's manager reportedly shoved cotton wool into Marilyn Monroe’s bra to make her look “more like herself.” Interestingly, the icon’s corpse was dressed for the funeral, but sans underwear, since she, reportedly, never wore those in life.

How Did Marilyn Monroe Die?
Meanwhile, the Netflix documentary titled The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes explored the conspiracy theories that surround the death of the famous movie actress. The said film used audio recordings from a research that investigative journalist Anthony Summers started in 1982, when the Los Angeles County District Attorney reopened the investigation into Marilyn’s demise.
The investigation of Anthony Summers resulted in 650 tape-recorded interviews and eventually led to a 1985 Marilyn Monroe biography titled Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe, which presented new pieces of evidence about the circumstances surrounding her shocking death.
Intelligence agencies, as per Anthony Summer’s interviews with federal operatives, were also concerned that Marilyn Monroe had forged associations with communist expatriates connected to Cuba’s Fidel Castro to whom she might, allegedly, be revealing government secrets to.
The Netflix documentary also featured recordings of Marilyn Monroe sharing her love for cinema from a very young age and revealing that Jean Harlow was her inspiration. Contributing voices include that of his family, director Billy Wilder, filmmaker John Huston, actress Jane Russell, and psychiatrist Ralph Greenson.

Most, if not all, fans can recall that an official coroner, in August 1962, ruled the untimely death of Marilyn Monroe at 36 as an overdose possible su*cide. The famed actress was found unresponsive in her bed next to a bottle of sleeping pills and a telephone off the hook beside her at her home at 12305 Fifth Helena Drive in Los Angeles.
The original finding remained unchanged after the case was reopened in 1982, with the district attorney saying that Marilyn Monroe either took her own life or died accidentally. The case was closed.
Investigative journalist Anthony Summers, per Radio Times, believes that Marilyn Monroe either died by s*icide or from an accidental overdose. However, he also suggested it is possible FBI investigators cleared her home to remove anything that would indicate Marilyn’s alleged involvement with Bobby and John F. Kennedy.
Surveillance expert Reed Wilson previously claimed that Bobby Kennedy called Marilyn Monroe on the night of her death. Bobby said the actress told him to leave her alone.
The housekeeper of Marilyn Monroe, Eunice Murray, claimed she found her body around 3 a.m. However, the widow of the icon’s publicist Arthur Jacobs, Nathalie Jacobs, stated that her husband was called with news she had died around 11 p.m.
The Netflix documentary also alleged that an FBI investigator arrived at Marilyn Monroe’s home shortly after her death to clear her house and remove anything that could compromise the Kennedy brothers. Another inconsistency, at the time, is senior FBI agent Jim Doyle telling Anthony Summers that the federal officials arrived long before police came to her home at the reported time of 4:25 am.
Jim Doyle stated:
"There were some [Bureau] people there that normally wouldn’t have been there. They came on the scene immediately. Before anybody even realized what happened. It had to be instructions from someone high up, higher than [former FBI director J Edgar Hoover]. The [attorney] general or the president."
Journalist and writer John Sherlock also shared that Marilyn Monroe's psychiatrist told him that she died en route to the hospital and was returned back to her home. In the documentary, John alleged:
“She died in the ambulance. Then they took her back to the house. [Greenson] told me he was in the ambulance.”

Law enforcement informant Harry Hall also claimed that the death of Marilyn Monroe became a “hush-hush” matter. He said:
"The man that was really involved was the boss [Bobby]. He was the attorney general of the United States, so he'd have the FBI do anything. People that knew, knew that they didn't want Bobby Kennedy’s name brought into this, because his brother was the president. They had done everything to hush this up."
Despite all the conspiracy theories and inconsistencies, investigative journalist Anthony Summers believes that Marilyn Monroe died of su*cide or an accidental overdose. He concluded:
"I did not find out anything that convinced me that she had been deliberately k*lled.”
