Maleficent 2’s First Official Trailer Reveals The Dark Fairy’s Family

One month ago, Disney released the first official teaser for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, a fantasy adventure picking up several years after the original Maleficent movie.

Now, the Mickey Mouse House has decided to release the first official trailer for the upcoming fantasy adventure film. The video gives fans a better idea of what kind of role Angelina Jolie's Dark Fairy is going to play in Mistress of Evil, and unlike what most would expect, it seems like Maleficent is actually going to take on the part of the possessive mother figure in the Maleficent sequel.

We get to see more of the conflict between Elle Fanning's Aurora and Maleficent in the video – the soon-to-be queen wants to marry Prince Phillip, but it seems like the Dark Fairy isn't having any of it. The trailer presents Maleficent as a possessive and angry godmother, though there may be more to the story than the woes of parenting.

Disney's summary of Mistress of Evil says that Maleficent and Aurora are going to be "pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family."

Not only that, but the last few minutes of the trailer for the film also teases Maleficent's very own heritage. From the looks of things, we're going to see the Dark Fairy dealing with her own kind in the movie. We can't wait to meet Maleficent's family in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
