It looks like fans' clamor to see Malcolm in the Middle reboot has finally been heard. Frankie Muniz, who played the titular role of Malcolm, reveals that former co-star Bryan Cranston, who portrayed the family patriarch Hal, is now working on the script of the show's possible revival.

It has been 16 years since the show ended after seven seasons. So, will fans finally see Malcolm in the Middle reboot?

Frankie Muniz Hints at Possible Malcolm in the Middle Reboot

Muniz was promoting his new show, VH1's The Surreal Live when he talked about the classic TV series in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Here, he revealed Cranston is working on a possible Malcolm in the Middle reboot, though he couldn't confirm anything yet.

"I would love to know what the family's up to. I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea, and he's kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling," he hopefully said. "So, there might be something. I would be down 100 percent. But I don't know - we'll see what happens."

He also talked about his time in the series back then and how he rewatched it with his wife this time.

"When I was filming the show, I obviously was a kid. We did seven seasons, 151 episodes. I didn't really watch the show when it was on, but I've now since watched the show with my wife," he continued. "We [watched] all 151 episodes… I realized, 'Wow, that's what we were making.'… I can separate myself from being on it and watching it as a fan."

Will a Malcolm in the Middle Movie be in the Works?

In 2016, Cranston said he was open to reprising his role as Hal, and there were talks of a follow-up movie at the time.

However, it looks like Muniz himself is not fond of the idea of bringing the famous dysfunctional family to the big screen.

"I'd rather people go, 'Oh, please! Please!' than 'I can't believe you did that. It was horrible,'” he said, per Mediamass.

The Breaking Bad star agreed, adding, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good.”

“It was so terrific,” he continued. “If we did a Malcolm in the Middle movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

Jane Kaczmarek, who played the role of Lois, thought the same, saying, “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie.’”
