NBC has saved Magnum P.I. on the verge of cancellation by renewing it for two seasons, Season 5 and 6. With that said, many are now waiting to see new episodes for Magnum P.I. Season 5.
CBS has canceled Magnum P.I. after the fourth season. Thankfully, NBC has renewed it for 20 more episodes that will be divided into two seasons with the possibility to have more. So, when will Magnum P.I. Season 5 be released?
The Possible Release of Magnum P.I. Season 5
According to TVLine, NBC already unveiled its plan for the release of its fall shows two days before announcing the show’s renewal.
If the network wanted to make it a part of its fall season releases, the announcement might have come earlier than it was.
Sources also told the publication that Magnum P.I. Season 5 wouldn’t start filming until fall. As it usually started TV productions in July, the late shooting only meant that the release would also be delayed.
With that said, the new season might premiere in the midseason or January at the earliest.
What Will Happen in Magnum P.I. Season 5?
As the show might continue where it left off, it might not go far from what the first to fourth seasons showed.
However, now that it’s in the new network, there may be “more serialized components,” like a larger arc to be featured in Magnum P.I. Season 5, per Cartermatt. There may also be a traditional Big Bad as it’s easier to tell stories this time with only ten episodes per season, instead of 18 to 20 episodes.
Magnum P.I. Season 5 Cast
Of course, the original cast is expected to return in Magnum P.I. Season 5, led by Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum.
Perdita Weeks may also return as Juliet Higgins, along with Zachary Knighton as Orville “Rick” Wright, Stephen Hill as Theodore “T.C.” Calvin, Tim Kang as Gordon Katsumoto and Amy Hill as Teuila “Kumu” Tuileta.
