Magic: The Gathering Eldritch Moon Card Price Predictions - White

Looking to buy some Eldritch Moon cards? Before you do, read this list for our price predictions for white cardsAs with any new set, there will be some cards that are overvalued from the start, and some undervalued sleepers. Our best advice is to not be swept up in the hype, as supply will always be restricted at first, making new rares and mythics inflated in price. With that said, in this article, we will be looking at price evaluations for all white mythics, rares, and select uncommons.

  1. Gisela, The Broken Blade

    Overview

Gisela, the Broken Blade is an excellent white creature for standard, most comparable to Baneslayer Angel and Angelic Destiny. Gisela has the same potential to runaway with games as Baneslayer, with lifelink quickly putting yourself out of range. With a toughness of three, Gisela is open to more removal. Her ability to dominate when unanswered greatly outweights its lack of toughness. This card should see frequent top level play in white decks.

    Value Predictions

Given the history of similar cards at mythic rarity, Gisela, the Broken Blade should remain a $25 card throughout its standard life, and can stabilize as high as $35 a pop.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $25 Estimated Future Price - $25-35

  2. Deploy the Gatewatch

    Overview

Deploy the Gatewatch, aka superfriends best new friend, can put two planeswalkers into play for only six mana. This card has Commander format potential. Imagine using this to bust out Nicol Bolas in a 5 color deck! For standard, six mana is a steep price to pay without a guaranteed outcome. There are potentially a few good white planeswalker targets such as Sorin, NahiriTamiyo or Narset

    Value Predictions

Deploy the Gatewatch could gain value if superfriends became playable with the release of new planeswalkers (unlikely, but possible). It is likely this card will slump in price after a few months, and might be worth picking up at that time. At worst, it should retain some value as a casual and Commander card at mythic rarity.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $3 Estimated Future Price - $3-10

  3. Thalia, Heretic Cathar

    Overview

Imposing Sovereign has been upgraded. Sovereign first came out at about $4 and lost value every week until it ended at under $1 at the time of rotation. With standard decks featuring more basic than non-basic lands, its additional ability offers relatively small benefits for its additional cost. Remove Thalia's come into play tap ability and you have a 3/2 first striker for 3 mana, which is ok, but not great. The better white human creature is Arashin Foremost, which has double strike. You might run both in a deck, but Foremost is what you would be running a full playset of.

    Value Predictions

Expect Thalia to decrease in price. Pre-release prices are overvalued, with Thalia at about $7-9.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $2 Estimated Future Price - $2-5

  4. Bruna, the Fading Light

    Click for reverse side

    Overview

At 7 mana you expect a creature to have a huge effect, and Bruna, the Fading Light delivers. By the time you drop this creature, there is a good chance you already have a few angels (and possibly humans) in your graveyard to return to play. While a 5/7 is nothing to write home about, having two bodies, one with 7 toughness, should provide a good defense, even against removal. The dream play is returning Gisela on cast, and melding them at end of turn, thus rendering most removal obsolete.

This card also has good synergy with Thalia's Lancers, which Bruna can bring back, thus letting you grab a missing Gisela.

    Value Predictions

Bruna has long term value as a legendary angel, with strong Commander playability. At the time prior to pre-release, it remains a bargain at $1-2. Because of the strength of Gisela, Bruna is easily a minimum 1-2 of in white decks (either in sideboard or maindeck), which should help bump up its price.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $3 Estimated Future Price - $3-10

  5. Collective Effort

    Overview

Every option on Collective Effort is good, but worse than most alternatives. You can run better enchantment removal (which is usually only a small benefit in standard) and better creature removal. The fact that this is a sorcery makes its third ability non-relevant for combat tricks. Sometimes this card will sit in your hand and at best, pump up your creatures a few points. Possibly has some SB tech, but unlikely to have a significant impact on Standard.

    Value Predictions

Given its sorcery speed and limited abilities, Collective Effort is unlikely to move much in value.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $1 Estimated Future Price - $1-3

  6. Providence

    Overview

Providence is significantly worse than Reverse the Sands under most circumstances. It also hurts you more than it helps in Commander, and is unlikely to see any significant play, unless the next set released a card where you win the game if your life total becomes 26 (entirely possible), considering the recent Tree of PerditionTriskaidekaphobia combo.

This card might find a place as sideboard tech vs a mono red deck (which doesn't exist at top tier in today's Standard). If it is in your starting hand, you get 6 life for free (adding 1-2 turns to your clock), and drawing it in late game could be game changing. This is still a niche SB scenario card vs a deck you are unlikely to face, so take it with a grain of salt.

    Value Predictions

Don't expect this card to increase in value. The only thing likely to bump it into $1+ territory is a card saying you win the game at 26 life, or a tier 1 red deck.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $1 Estimated Future Price - $1-3

  7. Sanctifier of Souls

    Overview

Limited play only. There are much better white 4 drops and 4 drop humans to consider for Standard.

    Value Predictions

    Junk rare.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $1 Estimated Future Price - Under $1

  8. Selfless Spirit

    Overview

Dauntless Escort ($2) just got a significant upgrade. Not only is Selfless Spirit one less mana, it also cuts green from its mana cost. Giving all creatures indestructible until end of turn is a relevant and strong ability. Selfless Spirit also has potential to combo well in a Standard spirit deck.

    Value Predictions

As an upgrade to Dauntless Escort, which still rests at $2, expect Selfless Spirit to maintain a good share of value and possibly go up in price depending on the meta.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $5 Estimated Future Price - $5-10

  9. Sigarda's Aid

    Overview

Stoneforge Mystic just got a new best friend. Sigarda's Aid can help augment powerful equipment cards. This card may be able to impact eternal formats, including Modern. Standard lacks any material equipments to fully realize this card's potential. A few possible targets include Slayer's Plate and Sword of the Animist.

    Value Predictions

Could wildly swing in price depending on brews in eternal formats. Unlikely to impact Standard.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $2 Estimated Future Price - $2-10

  10. Thalia's Lancers

    Overview

A 4/4 with first strike for 5 mana is hardly a deal, but tutoring a card is a 2 for 1 advantage. Thalia's Lancers has very strong play in Commander and casual formats. In Standard, it has decent play with Gisela and Bruna by helping you tutor the missing piece, as well as being targetable from the graveyard by Bruna

    Value Predictions

Could wildly swing in price depending on brews in eternal formats. Unlikely to impact Standard. Sphinx Summoner is a similar tutor (limited to artifact creatures) at the same converted mana cost and averages close to $2 today. It is safe to assume this card will retain some of its value post-standard.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $2 Estimated Future Price - $2-7

  11. Blessed Alliance

    Overview

Blessed Alliance will be a standard staple for white. Your opponent can attack with multiple creatures if they suspect you are holding one of these, but it doesn't diminish this as an excellent conditional removal spell. The life gain effect combos well with Lone Rider, which could be strong enough for Standard play.

    Value Predictions

At worst, this card will remain sideboard worthy, and will likely make it as at least a 1-2 of in white Standard decks.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $1 Estimated Future Price - $1-3

  12. Lone Rider

    Click for reverse side

    Overview

Untransformed, very underwhelming, but still holds its own with first strike. Flipped, this card is insane. Going out of your way to flip this card while watering down your deck is not wise, but there are some good cards that can gain you life in addition to doing things you want. For example, Blessed AllianceOjutai's Command, and Gisela, can all flip this card while holding their own. Since this card is going to go back and forth between awesome and mediocre, I would rate it similiar to Knight of Meadowgrain, which is really, really good.

    Value Predictions

Strong potential for multiple white decks. Pick up a few while they are cheap, just in case.

Recommended Buy Price - Under $1 Estimated Future Price - $1-3

  13. Recommendations
