It has already been confirmed that the Mad Max prequel that will focus on Furiosa is in development and already has an amazing cast led by Anya Taylor-Joy. But when can we expect to see the new movie? Warner Bros. has just announced the Mad Max Furiosa release date and it's going to be a long wait.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has confirmed 2023 theatrical release dates for three films which include Furiosa, Coyote vs Acme, and The Color Purple. These upcoming movies are slated to screen in theaters and will not be released on HBO Max unlike most of the studio's current line-up.

Furious is undoubtedly the most highly anticipated project here considering that Warner Bros. enjoyed massive success with Mad Max: Fury Road. Although the new film will no longer feature Charlize Theron in the title role, the young Furiosa will be played by The Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy.

The Mad Max prequel will also star Avengers: Endgame actor Chris Hemsworth and The Matrix 4's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Fury Road director George Miller co-wrote the script with longtime partner Doug Mitchell.

We're loving the idea that Warner Bros. is determined to release Furiosa in theaters. After all, Mad Max: Fury Road had amazing action sequences that would be better appreciated on the big screen. With Miller involved, there is little doubt that we can look forward to the same kind of action in the prequel.

The Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa is still in development and have not yet been given a production start date. However, it is already expected to hit theaters on June 23, 2023.
