LOTR: Rings of Power: Tyroe Muhafidin Reveals Two-Minute Fight Scene Actually Took Two Weeks To Film

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Tyroe Muhafidin, who played Theo in the series, reveals one fight scene that lasted two minutes, but actually took two weeks for the crew to film. Can you guess which scene it is?

Speaking with CBR, Tyroe Muhafidin shares his experience in shooting for a scene in Rings of Power Season 1, Episode 2, titled ‘Adrift’ where he had to pull an Orc’s neck into a pot of boiling water. The actor reiterates they had to spend months in the gym training just for that scene. Check out his full story below:

“I think it’s like a two-minute fight scene and it took us two weeks to shoot, which is pretty crazy, so it was — you know, they make it look really easy in the movies because they all do it so fast and they all do it so well. But it’s like we spent around 10 months in the gym for that scene. It got changed around a bunch of times. You know, there was one version where I had the Orc’s neck, [and he] had a chain wrapped around his neck and I was pulling his head into a pot of boiling water. That was a version.”

Muhafidin continues on to say the fight scene is not just about the time spent filming, but reiterates the strict choreography they had to follow to make the scene work.

“And you know, we went through so many different kinds [of fight choreography] just to think about what would be the best for entertainment purposes as well as for the camera, making sure it all gets caught.”

Finally, Muhafidin finishes his story about his experience in using the harness, which was what he considered the ‘worst part’ of the entire experience, seeing as, like many actors before him, the harness was uncomfortable, rendering it difficult to work with in scenes.

“And that was a really, really, really cool experience, to experience that sort of thing. And I was in a harness as well, which actually was the worst part of the whole experience because those things are not comfortable. But yeah, no, it was pretty crazy because a lot of work went into it for such a small amount of time.”
