Known for his roles as the hobbit Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson's trilogy, The Lord of The Rings, and as Bob Newby in Stranger Things Season 2, Sean Astin reaches new heights as the actor lands a role in the upcoming cycling drama Hard Miles.

Sean Astin is set to play the role of "Speedy" in the upcoming cycling drama, Hard Miles, where Speedy is the kindhearted local bike shop mechanic for the competing cyclists in the true story of Colorado's Ridge View Academy which gives at-risk youngsters a future in competitive sports.

Sean Astin is best known for his roles as the hobbit Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson's trilogy, The Lord of The Rings, Mikey Walsh in The Goonies, Doug Whitmore in 50 First Dates, and Bob Newby in Stranger Things Season 2 and 3.

Astin is set to reunite with his Stranger Things co-star, Matthew Modine, who played Dr. Martin Brenner. Modine is set to play the role of Greg Townsent who leads Ridge View Academy.

In a report from Deadline, Astin and Modine will be playing their aforementioned roles alongside Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Leslie David Baker, Jackson Kelly, Damien Diaz, Jahking Guillory, and Zachary T Robbins.

Hard Miles follows the true story of the cycling team of Ridge View Academy which opened to give juveniles a second chance in life through giving them “academic rigor, targeted treatment, competitive sports, and leadership."

Hard Miles will be under the helm of Pensé Productions to be executively produced by Scott Sander and directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna who will also pen the script alongside Christian Sander. The movie has already consulted professional cyclists from Tour de France winning teams such as George Hincapie and Christian Vande Velde.

There is no release date yet for Hard Miles. It is still in production in Los Angeles.
