Lord of the Rings Amazon Series Adds Doctor Who Alum in Lead Role

Amazon's Lord of the Rings has already revealed the confirmed cast members for the show back in January. That being said, there are still a "few key roles to cast" and it looks like a Doctor Who alum is a late addition to the ensemble.

According to Deadline, joining the 15 other actors in the show is actor Maxim Baldry, who is also known for his role in Years & Years. The outlet says he wasn't part of the cast announcement because he is yet to have a deal for the show at the time. However, Baldry was said to be linked to Lord of the Rings last fall.

Baldry's part is undisclosed but he is said to have a lead role in the show. For now, it seems like he is the first of the other key roles that Amazon is yet to cast. Just like most of the confirmed actor's characters, details about the show are mostly kept under wraps but it is already known that the TV adaptation is set to explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's Fellowship of the Ring.

Lord of the Ring's confirmed cast members include Robert Aramayo, who plays young Ned on Game of Thrones. Along with Owain Arthur of The Palace, Nazanin Boniadi of Homeland, Tom Budge of The Pacific, Morfydd Clark of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Ismael Cruz Cordova of The Mandalorian, Ema Horvath of The Gallows Act II, Markella Kavenagh of Romper Stomper, Joseph Mawle of Game of Thrones, Charlie Vicker of Medici, Daniel Weyman of Gentleman Jack, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, and newcomer Tyroe Muhafidin.
