Lilo and Stitch Director Has Major Concern Regarding Live-Action Remake

For the past few years, Disney has been busy creating remakes of its classic animated movies like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Aladdin, and so many others. Though fans would want the Mickey Mouse House to create more original movies, we honestly don't see the studio from putting an end to a commercially successful formula.

Seeing how the live-action remakes could go on, fans have been wondering whether or not Disney might ever consider creating a live-action version of the classic animated movie, Lilo & Stitch. While it might not seem that difficult considering the work the studio has done on films like Jungle Book and The Lion King, Chris Sanders, the co-director of the animated Lilo & Stitch isn't quite sure how the transition might work out for the movie.

Sanders just recently spoke in an interview with Cinema Blend to talk about the upcoming movie The Call of the Wild, and during the interview with the entertainment news outlet, the director was asked what he thought of the idea of turning Lilo & Stitch into a live-action movie.

It seems like the director isn't quite sure about the idea, expressing concern over Stitch's design.

"I definitely thought CG was, not at that point, up to the task of turning [Stitch] into something that would be visually not disturbing. With traditional hand-drawn animation cells you can make it in a particular way you can look at that and not see it as odd. If you think about a reinterpretation of Lilo as a CG character, she would just look very strange because I think she'd feel very Muppet-y because of her big mouth, while in the hand-drawn realm she looks pretty normal," the filmmaker explained.

Sanders does have a point. A live-action version of Stitch would look very different from the animated version of the character.

Then again, Disney has excellent designers. Look at what the studio's managed to do with strange creatures like the ones in Star Wars – Baby Yoda in Star Wars: The Mandalorian is nothing but adorable and so is the Porgs from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

What do you think? Can Disney pull off a live-action Stitch? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
