Kristen Stewart Lands First-Ever Oscar Nomination for Princess Diana’s Biopic Spencer

Kristen Stewart’s acting career has picked up from her classic roles from being Bella, the human who fell in love with a vampire to now starring as Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain’s Spencer.

Stewart’s acting was criticized since she starred in the romantic vampire film Twilight together with co-star, Robert Pattinson, pointing out that her acting style is very distinct and the actress lacks versatility.

Since then, the actress navigates her way through the film industry and tried to flew away from her role as Bella Swan. Stewart starred in different films such as Underwater, Seberg, Still Alice, and even went out of her comfort zone and led a Charlie’s Angel remake.

Like his co-star Robert Pattinson, who is now the new Batman, Stewart’s acting career is also paving off in the industry.

Last 2021, Stewart played the lead role for director Larrain’s Spencer, and critics claim that the film is Stewart’s ‘career-best’ and praises from different film academies have finally noticed her remarkable portrayal of the controversial Princess Diana. When the director asked about their preparations in an interview by USA Today, Larrain explained, “ "Diana was a very mysterious figure, and I felt that Kristen could capture that mystery.” Pablo Larrain is the director of Jackie’s lead star Natalie Portman who also landed an Oscar nomination for the role.

For Stewarts' preparation, she explained, "It's hard to laugh or be extremely angry or emotional in a different accent, or impulsively improv something," Stewart says. "But having four or five months to absorb her (through research), I found these things were readily available to me once we started shooting."

However, on Variety’s Award Circuit podcast, the well-known IDGAF attitude of the actress made it really clear where she stands on winning an Oscar.

“I don’t give a sh*t, The Oscars are such a funny thing. There are so many incredible movies and performances that barely get seen. It definitely says something about where we’re at as a cumulative presence, like, what we’re looking at [and] what we care about.”

The actress clarifies her gratefulness for the film being enjoyed by the audience, “I really appreciate that something that I was involved in, has ignited such a large conversation,” she explained. “We don’t make movies to not connect with each other. It absolutely speaks to her resonance. It just won’t stop reverberating.… It’s nice that people are talking about it to the extent that they are.”
