Kraven the Hunter Movie Reportedly Eyeing Jodie Turner-Smith as Calypso

There is much excitement about the Kraven the Hunter movie after it has been confirmed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as the comic book villain. Now it looks like the upcoming Sony flick is already considering its other big star. A new report suggests that Queen and Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith is being eyed to play Kraven's partner-in-crime Calypso.

Back in June, fans celebrated when Taylor-Johnson was cast in the lead role of Kraven the Hunter. It was great news but people also started wondering who else would show up in the Marvel villain's standalone project. One likely candidate would be the voodoo priestess Calypso who was regularly connected to Kraven in the comics.

But who could play Calypso in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie? The Illuminerdi reports that Sony is already planning to cast Turner-Smith in the role. However, the studio has yet to confirm any casting plans so it would be best to take this with a grain of salt.

Turner-Smith is certainly the perfect candidate for the role of Calypso considering that she has a knack for playing strong and powerful women. In addition to that, her schedule might be open since she has recently left The Witcher: Blood Origins. It would be great to see Turner-Smith as the voodoo priestess but we'll have to wait for an official announcement.

The Kraven the Hunter movie will be directed by J. C. Chandor while Art Marcum and Matt Holloway will work on the screenplay. The film is already scheduled for release on January 13, 2023.
