King Charles has been dubbed a distant father since he was always busy with his royal duties and didn’t spend much time with Prince William and Prince Harry while they were growing up. When he was a kid himself, he didn’t get to bond with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip that much either because the late royals were also very busy with their work.
In Prince Harry’s Spare, the Duke of Sussex made some shocking claims about King Charles. And while promoting his book, Prince Harry revealed that he hasn’t spoken to his dad in so long.
King Charles Wants Prince Harry To Attend His Coronation?
But according to People, King Charles’ upcoming coronation could be the event that will bring the father and son back into each other’s lives. After all, the monarch reportedly wants to put an end to his reputation of being a distant parent. So, he wants to invite Prince Harry to his coronation.
Queen Consort Camilla’s husband also reportedly wants to bring Prince Harry back into the royal family to set a good example to royal fans.
“It is such a momentous occasion for Charles, and he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family. If they don't sort it out, it will always be part of the King's reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue,” the source said.

King Charles Wants Prince Harry At His Coronation Because It Is Duty To Show That The Royal Family Is United?
Royal historian Robert Lacey also said that it is King Charles’ responsibility to show the entire world that the royal family is united. When the queen was still alive, the royal family always showed a united front even if their relationships were falling apart behind closed doors.
“Quite apart from [Charles'] paternal hope to reunite with his son, one of the jobs of the royal family is showing how to cope with the problems we all have in a human and thoughtful way. What will be a success for the family in the future is not reconciliation necessarily, but mutual acceptance of different ideas and priorities,” Lacey said.
King Charles And Prince Harry Stood United During 3 Royal Family Events Despite Rift?
The royal historian also said that even if there were already tensions between the father and son, they still reunited for the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They also mourned the deaths of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth together. So, seeing Prince Harry at King Charles’ coronation wouldn’t be such a huge shock.
“It is almost insulting to ask, 'When are they going to kiss and make up?' There have been some very grave disagreements between them. But the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and the funerals of the queen and Prince Philip did demonstrate that they could put personal enmity aside for the sake of the bigger cause. And that is what the coronation will be all about,” he said.
