King Charles is jealous of his daughters-in-law, according to Prince Harry, in his book Spare. The Duke of Sussex detailed his father's alleged jealousy in his memoir.
King Charles Couldn't Reportedly Stomach Meghan Markle Overshadowing Him
In Prince Harry's book, he mentioned how King Charles reportedly told him that they didn't have "enough money" to financially support Markle. When the former Suits star joined the royal family. His Majesty reportedly told him that he was already paying a lot to support him, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
Prince Harry argued that their dad wasn't supporting them financially. He clarified that it was part of the deal because they were serving the monarchy.
"Pa didn't financially support Willy and me, and our families, out of any largesse," he wrote, according to Page Six. "That was his job. That was the whole deal."
Prince Harry said he later realized that his father was not really concerned about the money. Instead, King Charles was allegedly not pleased with his wife overshadowing him.
"Pa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn't stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him," Prince Harry continued.
Prince Harry added that his father had "lived through that before" when he was married to Princess Diana. The late Princess of Wales confirmed her husband's jealousy in a previous interview.
She told BBC's Martin Bashir during her 1995 Panorama interview that she wasn't flattered by the media attention "because with the media attention came a lot of jealousy; a great deal of complicated situations arose because of that."
King Charles Reportedly Jealous Of Prince William And Kate Middleton's Popularity Too
Prince Harry added that his father's jealousy was not exclusive to Markle. The King reportedly felt the same toward his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
"Willy did everything he [Charles] wanted, and sometimes he didn't want him to do much, because my dad and Camilla didn't like Willy and Kate getting too much publicity," Prince Harry claimed in the book, New York Post reported.

One day, King Charles reportedly ensured that Prince William would not be photographed holding a tennis racket at a public engagement. Prince Harry claimed in his book, "that kind of photo would have pushed Dad and Camilla off every front page."
"And that couldn't be tolerated under any circumstances," he added.
