Prince Harry arrived in Balmoral sans his wife, Meghan Markle. Many were surprised why the Duchess of Sussex didn't join him when they initially said the couple would fly to Scotland together. A report claimed that it was King Charles who requested not to bring Markle along.

King Charles Reportedly Asked Prince Harry Not To Bring Meghan Markle Along In Balmoral

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were both in England when Queen Elizabeth passed away. As news of the ailing monarch made headlines, the Sussexes announced that they would both travel to Scotland without consulting the other members of the family. However, Prince Harry arrived alone.

"Charles told Harry that it wasn't right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time," a source told The Sun. "It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family. Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome."

The Duke of Sussex was also reportedly refused a seat on the RAF plane that took his brother Prince William and his uncles Prince Edward and Prince Andrew to Scotland.

Prince Harry flew to Balmoral alone but was too late to bid his last goodbye to the Queen. He reportedly arrived about 8 p.m. — nearly 90 minutes after it was announced to the public that the Queen had already passed away.

A passenger onboard the same flight as Prince Harry said he "barely moved for the whole hour-long flight and was obviously reflecting on his beloved grandmother."

"It was so sad to see him without the other royals to comfort him. I really hope the Queen’s death will help them heal their rifts," the passenger added.

Meghan Markle Reportedly Didn't Join Prince Harry In Balmoral Due To Tensions Following Her Controversial Interview

Another insider spoke with Page Six and provided another explanation why Markle wasn't with Prince Harry when he flew to Scotland. According to the anonymous tipster, her recent interview with The Cut, where she mentioned that Prince Harry "lost" his father because of Megxit, was among the reasons for the tension between the Sussexes and the other members of the royal family because it happened just a week before the Queen's death.

"Tensions were so high and there was no way Meghan could have gone to Balmoral," a highly-placed insider told Page Six Friday. "The fact the Sussex camp did say both Harry and Meghan were going — and then quickly retracted that statement — will tell you everything you need to know about the drama behind the scenes."
