Kate Middleton and Prince William will attend the same event on the weekend. However, fans will witness a royal rivalry because the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be supporting the opposing teams at the Six Nations match.

Kate Middleton Vs. Prince William At Six Nations Match

Kensington Palace released a statement about the upcoming engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton over the weekend. They will be watching the match between Wales and England. However, the royal couple will be cheering for the opposing teams.

"The Duke of Cambridge, Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the Rugby Football Union, will attend the England vs. Welsh Six Nations match on Saturday 26th February," the announcement shared by royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah on Twitter read.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be met by the president of their corresponding royal patronages upon arrival — Jeff Blackett, President of the Rugby Football Union, and Gerald Davies, President of the Welsh Rugby Union. Prior to the start of the event, the royal couple will speak to the representatives of the RFU's community game, including the volunteers and council members.

The announcement continued, "The match will be the first that The Duchess of Cambridge will attend in her new role as Patron of the Rugby Football Union. The Duke of Cambridge has been Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union since 2016."

Kate Middleton Takes Over Prince Harry's Former Royal Patronage

Kate Middleton was announced as the new Patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union earlier this month. The roles were previously held by her brother-in-law Prince Harry.

The royal patronages were returned to the Queen after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided that they would not return to their royal duties after being given by Her Majesty a year to make up their mind. Middleton is the first royal to take over Prince Harry's former patronages.

The two organizations are committed to "harnessing the power that sport can have in bringing communities together and helping individuals flourish."

The Duchess of Cambridge was pleased with her newest role and excited to represent it.

"I look forward to working with them across all levels of the games, and to cheering England on in what promises to be an exciting year for both sports!" Middleton wrote on Instagram.

Shortly after the official announcement, Middleton made her debut as the new rugby royal patron. She visited Twickenham Stadium and met the England players from the men's and women's squads who were preparing for the Six Nations Championships at the time.
