Queen Elizabeth Always Adored Kate Middleton, Broke Protocol For Duchess

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, the Queen has always adored Middleton. In fact, she even abandoned an important royal protocol during one of their first meetings.

Years ago, the Queen allowed Middleton to bring her camera to Balmoral so that she could take photos of the Scottish estate and its surrounding grounds. At the time, Middleton was just Prince William’s girlfriend.

“Until now, the Queen had met Kate only fleetingly at the wedding of Peter and Autumn Philips, but she went out of her way to make her feel welcome, giving her permission to take pictures at Balmoral,” Nicholl said in Kate: The Future Queen (via InStyle).

Nicholl also said that the Queen rarely lets her guard down, but she immediately did so with the Duchess of Cambridge.
