Kate Middleton and Prince William just wrapped up their visit to Jamaica to continue their Caribbean tour to the Bahamas. However, there are rumors alleging that MP Lisa Hanna snubbed the Duchess of Cambridge, which the former denied.

Kate Middleton Allegedly Got Snubbed InJamaica

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Jamaica Tuesday afternoon. Several dignitaries waited to welcome them at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, and MP Lisa Hanna was among them.

However, a video of her allegedly giving the duchess the cold shoulder is making the rounds online. In the clip, Middleton was smiling while talking to Hanna, who did not respond but instead, turned her face to the other side.

The netizens speculated that Middleton was aware of the snubbing and opted to just turn her head forward without a smile. However, it also didn't take long for Hanna to turn her face back to look at the duchess.

Hanna, a member of parliament and former Miss World, received intense backlash online due to the 5-second clip. Several called her rude, saying it wasn't the right attitude to welcome guests.

"There is no excuse for bad manners. Why did the Jamaican woman attend if she was intending to be rude? She wanted to be pictured with royalty and then decided to behave badly," one commented.

According to Hanna, she welcomed Prince William and Kate Middleton to Jamaica on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

Her first tweet included a video of her and Middleton talking and smiling at each other. It showed that the viral 5-second video was too short to describe their encounter. Also, the two women appeared friendly in most part of the event.

"We had a very interactive and pleasant conversation throughout the proceedings as we talked about family, our cultures and our people," she added.

Hanna admitted that they wanted to seek true independence and develop systems and strategies to be independent of the monarchy. Despite that, she clarified that "we will always remain a courteous and respectful country."

She also debunked rumors implying that she was being rude to Middleton by concluding her series of posts with, "I welcome them wholeheartedly with our warm hospitality and look forward to us having productive discussions about our future."
