Kate Middleton and Prince William's royal wedding in 2011 was watched by millions worldwide. However, unknown to many, the bride at the time, broke several royal traditions, according to a report.

Yes, the Duchess of Cambridge was stunning on her big day. She was like a princess as she walked down the aisle to marry her prince charming. However, she didn't follow several royal practices on her special day.

Kate Middleton Opted To Do Her Own Makeup

Royal weddings are one of the biggest events in one's life. Anyone in the bride's position will surely hire a glam team for the event. However, not Middleton.

Surprisingly, she decided to do her own makeup instead of having professionals. She reportedly wanted her groom, Prince William, to see her normal looks when she walked down the aisle.

The Bride Didn't Wear Her Hair Up

In the documentary William & Kate: The Journey, royal expert Ashley Pearson revisited how the bride was advised to wear her hair up for a very special occasion. However, she wasn't convinced that it was her best look, so she didn't follow their suggestion.

"Kate had her heart set on wearing her hair down with long flowing curls, which is her favourite way to wear it, and actually William’s favorite as well," Pearson explained, per Express. "They ended up compromising on her look."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Had A Unique Entourage

Prince William and Kate Middleton did not follow the traditional line-up of entourage for their wedding day. The bride and groom selected their siblings to play a significant role on their big day.

Prince William chose his brother, Prince Harry, as his best man. Middleton did the same and assigned her sister, Pippa Middleton, as her maid of honor.

Kate Middleton Allowed The Entourage To Wear White

Kate Middleton was stunning in her gorgeous Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Traditionally, the bridesmaids are not supposed to wear white to avoid confusion. This rule will also favor the bride because she is the only one wearing white, so it will be easy to spot her.

However, Middleton allowed her sister to wear a white Sarah Burton gown similar to her own dress. Her bridesmaids also wore white.

The Cambridges Skipped Immediate Honeymoon

Normally, the newlywed royals go on their honeymoon straight after the wedding. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge didn't follow the protocol.

Instead, they spent their first wedding night as husband and wife at Buckingham Palace. They waited for 10 days before they jetted off on their honeymoon.

The pair flew to Seychelles and stayed on a private island to celebrate their union.
