When Prince William and Middleton did their engagement interview, she wowed royal fans with her ISSA blue wrap dress. Royal fans went into a frenzy and the demand for the said dress spiked and it was sold out within five minutes and was re-ordered "countless times." However, the brand didn't expect she would wear one of their designs.

"That morning I’d gone to yoga as usual, and then I got a call from a friend telling me about the royal engagement. It was all very exciting. We didn’t have a TV at the studio and this was pre-Instagram, but we soon knew Kate was wearing Issa because at four o’clock the phones began ringing and didn’t stop. It was bonkers," ISSA founder Daniella Helayel told Daily Mail in 2016.

According to Helayel it has been her bestselling dress. She also shared how Middleton saved the business, which was struggling financially at the time.

"ISSA was a niche brand; we had a loyal following, but in 2008 and 2009, we were in serious financial trouble. When Kate wore that dress, everything changed," she added.

"From the day of the royal engagement, our sales doubled. I didn’t have the money to finance production on that scale."

Earlier this year, Middleton released a series of pictures for her photoshoot to mark her 40th birthday. In one shot, she was seen wearing a one-shouldered red gown. Shortly after her birthday photos were released the searches for "red dress" exploded by 376 percent across the globe.

"Paolo Roversi has done an extraordinary job of combining classical, idealised elements of royal photography with striking brushes of colour and boldness, from the blown-out look of Kate Middleton’s mane to the scarlet of her red McQueen dress in one of the photos."
"Another black-and-white photo, which features the Duchess of Cambridge in profile, reflects the ethereal, regal quality of the renowned court photographer Cecil Beaton, who captured historic images of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother, and searches for ‘Cecil Beaton’ also exploded 669 percent one day after the photos were released."

The spokesperson added that Middleton's three birthday portraits have the "feel and weight of history." They are positive that it will "remain iconic images of the monarch as the centuries progress."
