Jurassic World was set to end its new trilogy with Dominion coming out next year, but like with every other movie, plans had to be changed because of COVID-19. Though a lot of people thought that Dominion would be able to make its intended June 2021 release date, we just got an announcement that the film has been set back by a year.
According to Variety, Jurassic World: Dominion is moving from its June 11, 2021 release date to June 10, 2022. Director Colin Trevorrow has also confirmed this on his Twitter, and despite a message addressing the pushback, he did share a new teaser poster for the film. Check it out:
If you've watched the original Jurassic Park, you'll know this is a reference to the mosquito coated in amber. The entire park was only made possible because the mosquito had preserved dinosaur DNA that scientists were able to make actual dinosaurs out of. We don't know if there will be some kind of amber McGuffin in Dominion, but it is a neat call back to the first film.
We don't know what to expect with Jurassic World: Dominion yet, and that's all thanks to the set-up of Fallen Kingdom. While we have had people trapped in an island full of dinosaurs before, we have yet to actually look at a modern world where dinosaurs a roaming free and humans have to find a way to survive.
