Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Becomes 7th Biggest Anime Film of All Time

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 continues to do well at the worldwide box office and it looks like the film has reached another milestone. The prequel movie has just become the 7th highest-grossing anime film of all time!

It has been revealed that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 earned S$2,574,760 at the German box office after it was finally released in the country. That officially brings the film's global total to US$185,824,427. This puts it a solid $2 million ahead of Stand By Me Doraemon, which previously held the 7th spot in the list of highest-grossing anime films.

This is an awesome feat considering that most anime movies took years to make it to the top ten of the list. Although Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was only released in December 2021, it looks like it is well on its way to challenging Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie - Mugen Train for the top spot. Mugen Train currently dominates the list with a stunning $505,582,795 worldwide gross.

But will Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manage to earn even more in the future? It has recently been confirmed that the film is getting new release dates in Poland and the Baltics. In addition to that, the movie is set to premiere in Spain later his month. Needless to say, the prequel's box office earnings are expected to continue growing in May.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Gege Akutami's manga of the same name that serves as a prequel to the main manga. It follows Yuta Okkotsu as he enrolls at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School in an effort to get rid of the powerful curse that used to be his childhood friend. With the help of the powerful sorcerer Satoru Gojo, Yuta learns to accept the curse and how to control it to help others.

The film is still screening in theaters worldwide.
