Josh Gad: Frozen 2 Might be the Last Time We See Olaf

Frozen II had opened last weekend to $131 million, and it is now sitting at the highest opening for an animated film ever. The movie brings together all the characters from the first film, and Josh Gad, who plays Olaf, hints that this movie could be the last time he plays the character.

This was his post on Twitter:

While I'm honestly not a fan of the way Olaf was designed, his appeal in the film is indubitable, and he's obviously there for the kids. Even when you watch the sequel, you can see that Olaf is the stand-in for younger viewers as we watch him navigate himself along with the rest of the adult characters. There's a scene in particular where Olaf is playing with the kids and he says that he's ‘helping them cope with their feelings.'

I guess his character really comes out with his new song When I Am Older:

Without spoiling anything, I actually thought Frozen II would have been a wonderful exit for Olaf, but I doubt Disney wouldn't proceed to a third film without him. Olaf is the main source of comic relief, and though I love Kristoff, its Olaf's humor that kind of steals the movie. Besides, I'm sure Olaf would be the one to sell the most toys, but that's just me guessing at this point.

I think it's also worth mentioning that there's an after-credits scene for the film starring—you guessed it—Olaf.

We don't know if this is the last time we see the sun-loving snowman, but you can certainly catch Olaf in Frozen II now in theaters.
