Following Johnny Depp's major legal victory, more opportunities are knocking on his door. Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer wants him back in the franchise and says his character, Jack Sparrow, is invincible.

Writing Johnny Depp's Character Off Pirates Is Something That Can't Be Done?

Bruckheimer spoke about the future of Depp in the Pirates franchise following the latter's legal win against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The Aquaman star decided to settle the defamation case, officially ending the legal saga between the former celebrity couple.

Bruckheimer is open to having Depp onboard again and said that writing off his character Jack Sparrow is something they can't do as they already tried it, but it didn't work.

"You can't," he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Dec. 19. "We tried to kill him. It didn't work."

"I would love to have him in the movie," he added. "He's a friend, a terrific actor and it's unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do."

When asked if Disney would cast Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean film again following his major victory in the highly-publicized trial, Bruckheimer declined to give a definite answer.

"You'd have to ask them. I can't answer that question," he said.

Will Johnny Depp Return To Pirates Of The Caribbean After Disney Dropped Him Following Amber Heard's Abuse Allegations?

During the six-week trial, Depp said he believed Disney dropped him from the franchise due to his ex-wife's abuse allegations.

"I'm sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe. The #MeToo movement was in full swing at that point," Depp said.

During the cross-examination, Heard's lawyer Ben Rottenborn asked if he was still interested in reprising his role. However, at the time, the Fantastic Beasts actor said he was no longer interested because Disney treated him guilty without proof. Apparently, he just wanted to move forward.

"I built it from scratch, I put a lot of myself into it, I rewrote dialogues, so I didn't understand how for Disney I was directly guilty without first proven my innocence," Depp said during the trial.

However, he also mentioned that he wanted to give the character a proper ending and was committed to the role.

"My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye. A franchise could only last for so long, and there's a way to end a franchise like that. And I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out of… to end the franchise on a very good note. And I planned on continuing until it was time to stop," Depp said.

In November, a report from Pop Topic (via Koimoi) claimed that Depp was reconsidering his decision and would probably join the franchise once more. However, he hasn't decided yet.

"Disney is thinking about offering $300 million for Johnny Depp's return, but nothing has been agreed yet. As of right now, Johnny is still considering any offer that comes his way," a source said.
