During the defamation trial of the case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, a pre-recorded video deposition of Christian Carino was offered as a testimony for Depp and in the said video, when the Pirates of the Caribbean was brought up, Carino claimed, "My opinion is it was related to the accusations that Amber has made."

In a report from Deadline, the CAA Agent Christian Carino admitted that he did not converse to anyone at Disney other than the Pirates of the Caribbean executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Carino based his claim on internal and external conversations with the studio’s executives, “It is something within the industry that is understood."

Early in the trial, Johnny Depp expressed that he would have wanted to give Jack Sparrow a proper goodbye and that he planned to continue the role until the time is up. However, he was fired from the role and as per his former agent, it was due to the allegations that Amber Heard made.

Johnny Depp lost his role of Captain Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and the franchise has been brought up frequently since the case began in court. Depp sued Heard for her allegations on him published in The Washington Post where she accused the actor of abusing her when their marriage subsisted. Heard countersued Depp for defamation.

The trial continues between the two parties and it is yet to be given judgment. Johnny Depp has already taken the stand while Heard has yet to have her day answering the questions. The case is being livestreamed online through CourtTV which was picked by the local officials to televise the whole case.

The defamation case follows the court battle between the ex-spouses and The Sun, a British Tabloid where the actor was not able to prove the alleged libel versus the newspaper after such quoted the statements of Heard and referred to him as a “wife-beater.”

The trial is being heard in Fairfax County, Virginia. It will be attended by high profile witnesses such as Elon Musk, James Franco, and Paul Bettany.
