Johnny Depp Refuses to Return as Jack Sparrow in More Pirates of the Caribbean Films After Disney Firing

There is little doubt that people were disappointed when Johnny Depp was removed from the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean project back in 2018. After all, Captain Jack Sparrow was the heart of the Disney franchise but Depp also happened to be in the middle of a messy divorce with Amber Heard during that period. But is there any chance that Depp would return to the franchise if Disney asked him to?

Johnny Depp is currently the middle of another trial where he is accusing Amber Heard of destroying his career by accusing him of domestic abuse despite being the one who abused him in their relationship. It was in the Virginia courtroom where Depp was cross-examined by Heard's attorney Ben Rottenborn, who brought up an October 2018 Daily Mail article that stated Depp was already removed from Pirates of the Caribbean 6 even before Heard's op-ed was published.

"I wasn't aware of that, but it doesn't surprise me," Depp stated. "Two years had gone by of constant worldwide talk about me being this wife beater. So I'm sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe. The #MeToo movement was in full swing at that point."

Rotterborn further suggested that Depp is no longer interested in returning to the franchise.

"The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?" Rottenborn asked

"That is true, Mr. Rottenborn," Depp replied.

Johnny Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow in five Pirates of the Caribbean films and was originally expected to return in the sixth one. However, Disney announced that the sixth movie will be a reboot and that Depp will not appear in the film.
