Johnny Depp Lost $22.5M Paycheck After Being Fired from Pirates of the Caribbean Due to Amber Heard Op-Ed

Johnny Depp's lawyers are revealing how Amber Heard's op-ed had caused the actor some major financial damages. It has just been revealed that Depp lost a $22.5 million paycheck when he was fired from Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and continues to be affected since the op-ed was published.

Jack Whigham, Johnny Depp's agent at Creative Artists Agency and then at Range Media Partners, recently testified in the trial, stating that the agency was close to getting Depp signed on for a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. However, Amber Heard's op-ed destroyed the deal.

According to Whigham, Heard specifically accused Depp in her op-ed which was devastating for the actor's career.

“It was a first-person account coming from the victim. It became a death-knell catastrophic thing for Mr. Depp in the Hollywood community," Whigham testified.

“After the op-ed it was impossible to get him a studio film,” he added. Whigham also pointed out that Depp was earning more in 2017 compared to 2018 after the op-ed was published in Washington Post.

Depp had reportedly received paychecks of $8 million for City of Lies, $10 million for Murder on the Orient Express and $13.5 million for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2017 alone. In the year after the editorial, he received $3 million for Minamata. This would be Depp's last film to date.

Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million, alleging that the Aquaman actress destroyed his career with false allegations of domestic violence. The trial, which is being held in Fairfax, Virginia, has entered its fourth week on Monday with Depp’s team continuing to call witnesses to support his claims. Heard’s side has not yet offered evidence and she is expected to tell her own side of the story later in the trial.
