Johnny Depp Claims He Doesn't Miss Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise

Say what you will about Johnny Depp but it can't be denied that he's the undisputed face of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and his ousting from the upcoming sequel left quite a void that is definitely going to be hard to fill. Of course, a lot of you already know by now that the Hollywood icon was fired by Disney after his issues with ex-wife Amber Heard blew up and caught the attention of mainstream media.

Depp's career seemed to have gone downhill following his Pirates exit and just last year, he also lost another high-profile role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise as Gellert Grindelwald. Although he's struggling to get acting projects, the controversial actor seems to be piecing his life back together and previous reports even claimed that he's trying his best to land roles in Hollywood again following the aftermath of his "wife-beater" issue with the Aquaman actress.

Now, if you'd ask the veteran actor whether or not he misses playing Jack Sparrow, arguably the big screen's most iconic buccaneer, interestingly, he said no but he has a good reason for it. In a recent appearance at the BCN Film Fest to promote his latest movie Minamata (via El Pais), Depp explains: "No, I don't miss it, because I have it every day, I always carry it with me, I travel with Captain Jack in my suitcase. I belong to Jack Sparrow and he is loyal to me."

We still don't know what the future holds for Depp's personal life and professional career but considering his legal battle with Heard is far from done, he's still in a pretty tough spot. Hopefully, after the dust finally settles, the actor will still be able to bounce back because I certainly could not imagine how Hollywood would be like without one Johnny Depp. Only time will tell, I guess.

Meanwhile, Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will reportedly be led by Margot Robbie.
