Johnny Cage's Absence in Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer Enrages Fans


There is little doubt that the Mortal Kombat movie trailer already has fans excited for the film's upcoming release. However, some people were unhappy about the teaser considering that it didn't feature Johnny Cage.

Johnny Cage is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in the Mortal Kombat games. The character, whose real name is Jonathan Karlton, is one of the games' original characters. Johnny has always played a major role in the franchise so fans were confused why there was no update about his casting in the reboot.

Nevertheless, people expected Johnny to finally show up in the Mortal Kombat movie trailer. Instead, the teaser focused on all the announced characters and introduced a new one named Cole Young, who is played by Lewis Tan.

Not surprisingly, hardcore Mortal Kombat fans were disappointed that Johnny isn't in the reboot's trailer and have actually made the term "Johnny Cage" trend on Twitter.

Fans have not yet given up hope on Johnny and some have even pointed out that he could eventually show up in the sequel. With that in mind, here are some fan-casting ideas from hopeful fans.

It's still unclear why Johnny may have been written out of the Mortal Kombat movie. However, there is a possibility that the character will still show up in the film.
