Springer wasn't just an ordinary TV host. He was also a broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, lawyer, and politician.

He studied at Northwestern University School of Law and became qualified as a lawyer. From there, he became actively involved in politics and worked for the campaign of Robert Kennedy in 1968.

In 1977, he started to serve as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati for a year.

He then began working as a local news anchor in Cincinnati and won several Regional Emmy Awards for commentary.

But the controversial tabloid talk show Jerry Springer brought him to an all-new height.

Jerry Springer Dead at 79

Spokeswoman Linda Shafran confirmed the passing of Springer. In a statement, she said the iconic host died at his home in suburban Chicago.
