Jerry Springer's Career
Springer wasn't just an ordinary TV host. He was also a broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, lawyer, and politician.
He studied at Northwestern University School of Law and became qualified as a lawyer. From there, he became actively involved in politics and worked for the campaign of Robert Kennedy in 1968.
In 1977, he started to serve as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati for a year.
He then began working as a local news anchor in Cincinnati and won several Regional Emmy Awards for commentary.

But the controversial tabloid talk show Jerry Springer brought him to an all-new height.
He then debuted the Jerry Springer Podcast in 2015. He also hosted America's Got Talent and the courtroom show Judge Jerry from 2019 to 2022.
He was heavily noted for pioneering the emergence of trash TV, and Jerry Springer Show became a huge success, "a commercial smash and certifiable cultural phenomenon" in the 1990s.

Jerry Springer Dead at 79
Spokeswoman Linda Shafran confirmed the passing of Springer. In a statement, she said the iconic host died at his home in suburban Chicago.

"Jerry's ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried, whether that was politics, broadcasting, or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word," Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family said, via USA Today. "He's irreplaceable, and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart, and humor will live on."
