Jen Shah is probably best known for her stint in the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but many talked about her name after she pleaded guilty to a criminal charge in 2022.

As the TV personality now serves her prison time, know more about Shah, her career, her case, and her net worth.

Jen Shah’s Life and Career

The 49-year-old started in the business as part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in November 2020.

However, come March 2021, she was criminally charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud. She pleaded not guilty to both charges later.

Her case was chronicled in the documentary Housewife and the Shah Shocker.

But in July 2022, she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She received her sentence of six and a half years in prison in January 2023 and started his prison sentence in February.

According to Distractify, she still has a net worth of $3 million.

Jen Shah’s Business Before Joining RHOSLC

Shah told Bustle that marketing was the “core business” that kept her busy for about 20 years.

“I’m actually a nerd at heart,” she said, revealing she had a passion for “numbers, spreadsheets, algorithms, and all the other stuff everyone else found boring.”

Her sentence for wire fraud was said to be linked to a telemarketing scheme she allegedly kickstarted in 2012.

The New York Times reported the scheme tricked victims, mostly elderly, into paying money for services promising to help them make money through their online business.

Shah then used these earnings to fund her luxurious lifestyle seen on RHOSLC.

So, aside from her prison sentence, she’s also asked to pay $6.6 million in restitution and forfeit another $6.5 million.

Jen Shah Recalls Start of Prison Time

Shah recalled surrendering herself to a federal prison to begin her prison time in Bryan, Texas, in a post on Instagram Thursday, May 9.

At the time, she revealed she suffered an anxiety attack while traveling with her husband, Sharrieff Shah and their son, Omar. She also called her oldest child, Sharieff Jr., for the last time, per E! News.

"We finally connected, I saw his face, and I cried so hard until he reassured me that it would be okay," she wrote.

When she arrived at the prison, she hugged Omar and her husband as tightly as possible, as if it would “erase her nightmare.”

"I wanted to remember this embrace, his smell, his touch," she said. "I held his face in both of my hands. As I looked into his eyes, tears streaming down my face, I told him he is the love my life and I love him more than anything."
